Flims/Caumasee

Flims is a municipality in the Imboden Region in the Swiss canton of Graubünden. The town of Flims is dominated by the Flimserstein which one can see from almost anywhere in the area.

Flims consists of the village of Flims (called Flims Dorf) and the hamlets of Fidaz and Scheia as well as Flims-Waldhaus, the initial birthplace of tourism in Flims, where most of the hotels were built before and after around 1900.

Flims has an area of 50.5 km2 (19.5 sq mi). Of this area, 33.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while 28.9% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 3.6% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (33.9%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).

When we arrived in Flims, we searched for a parking area which is near in the famous lake “Caumasee “ From the parking area we have to walk going down to the lake.

A walking distance but really a worth. For me it’s really a paradise!

I was really so fascinated with the beautiful turquoise colored lake, I can’t believe I‘m here in paradise. This is one of the beautiful lakes in Switzerland.

Caumasee - the pearl of Flims

In Romansh, "Lag la Cauma", which means "lake of siesta", Lake Cauma is the pearl of Flims. Swimming, lounging and sunbathing: Whether you are on foot or by bike, a detour to the beautiful lake complements your trip perfectly. The Caumasee lies in the heart of the Flims forest and impresses above all with its strikingly turquoise-green and pleasantly cool water: in summer the water temperature is between 17 and 24 degrees Celsius. Bathing in Lake Cauma is just part of every summery bucket list!

Lake Cauma, the Pearl of the Alps,

impresses every guest again and again. The self-service restaurant with terrace and separate lounge is located directly on the idyllic bathing lake.

There is also a fireplace where you can grill something. You can also do a picnic with your friends and family.

How to be there:

You can take a train from Chur Graubünden, until Flims

or with your own car there are lot of parking places in Flims...
