Gran Canaria is a most enchanting vacation spot with a pleasant climate all year long. It is the third largest of the 8 Canary Islands after Tenerife and Fuerteventura and gave the archipela its name. The Canary Islands are an autonomous region of Spain with its own parliament and president.
Gran Canaria’s largest industry is tourism. It is mainly charter tourists visiting Gran Canaria. The island’s traditional attractions are sunshine and beaches. In recent years it has become increasingly established several golf courses and there are now seven 18-hole courses on the island. The best way to discover the unspoilt Gran Canaria is to rent a car and drive lost in the countryside. There are many villages and small places that are not yet occupied by tourists, and here you can meet the local culture up close.
Climate Gran Canaria
The climate on Gran Canaria is the best and most stable in the world. Gran Canaria is also a continent in miniature with four climate zones.
MOGAN GRAN CANARIA
Mogán is an old fishing village that unlike many other places on the island, is built around tourism. Here you can still experience the genuine Canarian life. Early in the morning you will see, for example fishing boats to dock with the night’s catch, which you later in the day and evening can enjoy in one of the village’s restaurants. Many residents live in houses built right on the mountain side. A trip up the steep hillsides recognized good feet, but well up on top you get the reward – a breathtaking view over the village, the beach, the mountains and the sea. While several of Gran Canaria beaches have ash, volcanic sand, the golden sands of Puerto de Mogan transported from the Sahara. Anyway it’s the local pulse more than anything separates Puerto de Mogan from the other tourist spots farther east. It insists on not letting himself drown tourism. The fishermen go out with nets every night, and in boatbuilding yard hammered and stained it. About shopping or not Mogán market is immaterial. Market trail forms namely a great little sightseeing trip through the small town. From the promenade to the yacht harbor where dyplilla bougainvilla makes it extremely picturesque. So you must go through boatbuilding yard where you can take a break alongside the local boatbuilders in a makeshift cafe caravan. Finally culminates market edge of the pier where Lighthouse Cafe El Faro lures with ice cream for the kids, and maybe a well deserved cerveza for the adults. Sexier cafe location should look long for.
PLAYA DE AMADORES
Nestled between Puerto Rico and Puerto Mogán on the south-west coast of Gran Canaria lies the glorious beach of Playa de Amadores.
This extensive bay, well-protected from the ocean, boasts an 800 metre stretch of golden sand and crystal-clear waters. Peaceful and relaxing, this is a favourite choice for couples looking for a romantic setting to spend a day in the sunshine – so it’s no surprise that Playa de Amadores means lovers’ beach.
Ball games and listening to loud music are not allowed and although the vibe is quiet, families spend time here as the sand provides perfect conditions for small children to run around and play safely. Refreshing drinks, tapas and succulent seafood are on offer from a good assortment of bars and restaurants situated directly behind the beach.
Playa de Amadores was given the prestigious Blue Flag award in 2004, an accolade for beaches which have achieved high standards in water quality, environmental education, safety and management. There are shower facilities on the beach and buses run to the resort frequently from most areas and are a cheap way to travel. Inexpensive car parking is also available nearby.
Shopping Gran Canaria
Most people who go shopping in Gran Canaria, usually ends up in the shopping street Mesa y Lopez in the middle of town, the old town pedestrian Calle Triana, or at one of the many shopping centers and markets. There are also several hidden tresures outside the main tourist areas, where you can get some great shopping and experience, something completely different. We rented a car when we arrived at Gran Canaria Airport. No hassles we took the key and took the car at the parking area. Then we drive to our hotel in Mogan Gran Canaria.
It was really a great stay in this beautiful island I can really recommend 👍😘
